Reenactors Write Your Own Epitaph by Buck Conner

Being a traveler of 40 years, my wife reminds me of the amount of items gathered and collected over that amount of time and what's she to do with it if something would happen to me.

Imagine if you passed away, would your (spouse) know the value or how to get rid of your treasurers or who do you want to have them?

What about your work you have done around your home, club or other interests you have had?

What legacy have you left behind?

What contributions have been made for a better world, a better place for the family, etc.?

The answer is write your own epitaph.

The bottom line is what would you want to be remembered for when you have gone to the other side?

As I mentioned being a fur trade student and a re-enactor, traveling by foot, horse or water, I've used up more than my share of nine lives in various un-thought-out mishaps along my travels. I'm sure you too, have had a few, so it is probably time to consider what the family would do or say about you when not around, this could take a big burden and save some money in their future.

Theodore Girty, uncle to Simon, remarked about the conditions of local government when things didn't go his way: "When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know how to answer. "present" or "not guilty". I don't think we would like an epitaph, such as that, to be remembered by. Oh, a hundred later another Theodore, used the same line in one of his speeches, his last name was Roosevelt!!!!!

As always we leave as brothers of a time long gone.
