Get asked this question all the time "How does your wife put up with you, your always involved in some off the wall activity". Happens to be my hobbies and life style folks.
Have your so called family friends ever made a remark like this? I would hear this over and over from family and her friends not my friends.
My usual reply was "up yours twice on Sunday", that always gets their attention and they leave me alone.
Needles to say I have a few years under my belt at many different time periods in North America, as well as my racing history. These ventures started in 1945 and continues on to this day ..... Not bragging, the wife looks at my experiences as having an "incurable disease" that can't be treated or corrected.
She claims its the "ME ME ATITUDE", so be it.
That said, I will make an attempt in providing you with some old and new ideas that have passed through and worked for me. I can honestly say for the most part the last 70 years has been a good and sometimes exciting bunch of adventures. Don't ask the wife, she just shakes her head.
I always tell her "we're just passing through the portholes of time", no response she still questions my mental state.
When viewing the content of this site you'll see a different stopping date for 'The Sitting Fox Agency'. 1955-2005 was a full blown involvement in the life style of a mountaineer - the living history period we took part in. We still use the same name 'Sitting Fox Agency' in relation to our website service we provide for a few friends and family.
1957-2007
* HUNTING - As you grow older the need of getting that game animal you saw before the season opened is no longer an issue.
* LIVING HISTORY - Not being able to wait for the next historical event now doesn't matter, more work than your willing to take on.
* DRAG RACING - Going faster than you had run the previous season has lost its excitement, the cost has scared you off for speed.
"It's hell to grow older in body and sole, with your mind still telling you your much younger than the wear and tear shows."
Next best thing one can do is try and help others that still have those same wants as you once had in the past 50 years.
I have sold, traded, swapped or given away almost all my personal wares from these ventures. Figured when I go to the next life the wife wouldn't have a clue what things are or any idea of their value. Plus not knowing how to get rid of my valued toys, so I did it for her and put the money in the bank (she'll know how to handle it !@#$%^ ).
Such is our freekin' lives guys ...
